- AT brukes med bestemte tidspunkter (f.eks. at midnight), måltider (f.eks. at dinner) og festivaler (f.eks. at Christmas)
- IN brukes med deler av dagen (f.eks. in the morning) og lengre tidsperioder, for eksempel måneder, årstider, år osv.
- ON brukes med en bestemt dag, dato eller del av en bestemt dag (f.eks. on Monday morning)
Vanligvis ikke bruk “at, in, on” før følgende ord/setninger:
- yesterday
- the day before yesterday
- tomorrow
- the day after tomorrow
- tidsuttrykk som begynner med disse ordene: all, any, each, every, last, next, one, some, this, that
(e.g. I’m going to London next Tuesday.)
